On April 13, 2017, the U.S. Embassy in Yaounde welcomed Aboubakar prior to his trip to the United States of America under the International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP) sponsored by the U.S. Department of State. He was met by Cultural Affairs Officer (CAO) Nitza Sola-Rotger, Cultural Affairs Specialist Mathias Tientcheu, and Cultural Affairs Assistant Olivia Mukam-Wandji.
Mr. Aboubakar will visit Washington D.C, Portland – Oregon, Cleveland and Akron – Ohio, and New York City – New York, from April 16 to May 6, 2017 under the IVLP program titled “Towards a More Safe and Secure World: Community Engagement and Countering Extremism. A Regional Project for Africa.”
CAO Sola-Rotger said: “We are proud of Mr. Aboubakar’s proven leadership in his field to economically empower youth of the Far North region of Cameroon, and that he will visit the United States. Under the program he will have the opportunity not only to interact with Americans and visit several states of our country, but also to interact with participants from other nations who share his commitment to promote a future of peace and prosperity through the immense talents and contributions of youth.”
Aboubakar looks forward to meeting his counterparts in the U.S and from 15 other African countries.
