Movie Program Highlights the Importance of Civic Engagement

Public Affairs Officer Lee McManis discusses with the participants.

To commemorate the 2019 Black History Month, the Public Affairs Section screened the movie “SELMA”. The movie that chronicles Dr. Martin King Jr.’s campaign to secure equal rights for African- American citizens paved the way for discussions on civil rights, the African- American heritage and the right to vote. The audience of university students examined the impact of the courageous march from Selma to Montgomery and the role Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. played in advancing human and civil rights in the United States of America.
