South Texans Visit Cameroon

South Texans Visit Cameroon

U.S. Embassy Public Affairs staff was excited to welcome to the Embassy a delegation of 16 South Texans who were visiting Cameroon from June 3-13. The delegation consisted of individuals with Foundation Neme, Inc., a Texas non-profit, and students of Project Merci, both dedicated primarily to improving education and providing assistance to rural areas of Cameroon. Based on a project started last year designed to motivate and encourage teachers to be the best they can be, the delegation presented over 200 teachers with financial assistance to better do their important work in the classrooms. They also provided supplies to schools in Batouri, Obala, and Ngoya, funds for construction of new bathrooms for a school in Batouri, and medical supplies and equipment to health clinics in Batouri and Ngoya. More information about their project can be viewed at Facebook @foundationneme.  This is a great example of the links that join our countries at the citizen to citizen level!
