  1. Acceptance of Terms of Use

Users of U.S. Embassy social media accounts are subject to the provisions of this Terms of Use (“TOU”), which may be updated without notice. By using U.S. Embassy Cameroon social media accounts, users accept these TOU and agree to be bound by them, including the provision that the user, not the U.S. Embassy, is entirely responsible for all material posted. Significant changes may be posted on the U.S. Embassy website: https://cm.usembassy.gov. Users can review the current version of the TOU at any time at https://cm.usembassy.gov

  1. Purpose

The purposes of the U.S. Embassy social media accounts are, inter alia, to inform and educate U.S. citizens about travel information and services available for U.S. citizens abroad, as well as inform Cameroonians about the United States, its culture, travel policies and requirements, and U.S. foreign policy and the bilateral relationship.

  1. Description of Service

This section outlines the privacy notices, terms of use, and disclaimer for all social media sites run by U.S. Embassy, including but not limited to Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, and Flickr.

The U.S. Embassy manages their social media platforms as listed below:

U.S. Embassy provides users with a variety of features, including, but not limited to video and photo sharing, messaging, chat, and notifications of developments in the U.S.-Cameroon relationship. The U.S. Embassy reserves the right to alter the types of features provided at any time without notice.

  1. Social Media Platforms Terms of Use and Privacy Policy

Users should be aware that each platform (e.g., Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, and Flickr) has its own Terms of Use and Privacy Policy.

This TOU policy applies only to U.S. Embassy Cameroon accounts, although by using U.S. Embassy accounts users are bound by the rules of the U.S. Embassy TOU and Privacy Policy and the platform TOU and Privacy Policy. The U.S. Embassy is not responsible for user violations of any platform’s TOU and Privacy Policy.

Users share content on the site at their own risk. Although these social media platforms may allow privacy settings to limit access to user information, no security measures are perfect or impenetrable. Furthermore, neither the U.S. Embassy nor social media platforms can control the actions of other users with whom users share their profile and information. Therefore, the U.S. Embassy cannot guarantee that content posted on the U.S. Embassy social media accounts will not be used improperly or viewed by other individuals.

  1. Security

Participation on U.S. Embassy social media accounts is voluntary. Users accept responsibility for maintaining the confidentiality of logins and for all activities that occur under user logins. Users should immediately notify the platform of any unauthorized use of logins or accounts or any other breach of security. Users agree that the U.S. Embassy is not liable in any way for any loss or damage arising from a user’s failure to comply with this Section. Users should also refer to the TOU for each social media platform referenced above for additional information on its security practices.

  1. Member Conduct

Users understand that all information, data, messages, or other materials (“content”), whether publicly posted or privately transmitted, are the sole responsibility of the person posting or transmitting such content. This means that users, and not the U.S. Embassy, accept full responsibility for content posted, emailed, transmitted, or otherwise made available via the site.
